Number of cars in this list: 228    (46%) Beginning and end of series The straight rubber bumpers In 1973 the straight rubber bumpers were introduced on cars for the American and Canadian market. This modification was valid from SRB16240 for the Silver Shadow 4-door saloon, but already from DRB15936 for the Corniche covertible and from CRB15940 for the Corniche 2-door saloon. The bumpers were shock-absorbing. To make this possible the grille was shortened and also made deeper. The licence-plate lighting moved to the boot lid. The starting of the engine was only possible when the safety belts of the front passengers were closed. The rear seats got headrests. The mirrors became electrically operated. The safety belts were provided with a buzzer. Technical changes From number 15815 vented front discs were applied. Different models In this series one car has been converted into another model. The Silver Shadow Long wheelbase LRB15606 has been modified into a stretched limo. Other details of manufacturing 1. Prototypes The Silver Shadow with chassisnumber SRB15556 was a prototype for the American models with the black rubber bumpers that were introduced on number SRB16240. 2. Head lamp whipers in Sweden From number 15855 Swedish cars had to be provided with head lamp whipers. Only in 1978 head lamp whipers were mounted on all Silver Shadow II models (except on the American ones). Other models than the Silver Shadow Alongside the Silver Shadow models Rolls-Royce also sold the Phantom VI. The chassisnumbers of the Phantom VI untill 1978 were part of the 4000-series. The Rolls-Royce Corniche convertible DRB15945, one of the first five examples of the Corniche convertible with rubber bumpers.
