Number of cars in this list: 170    (34%) Other models than the Silver Shadow Alongside the Silver Shadow models Rolls-Royce also sold the Phantom VI. The chassisnumbers of the Phantom VI untill 1978 were part of the 4000-series. Begin and end of series Mixed chassisnumbers for LHD and RHD The first 6750 cc engine was mounted in the SRH8742. The LHD cars for the American market (so not the LHD cars for the other markets like the European markets) got numbers from 9001 on. So while the RHD cars received numbers from 8742 on, the American cars got numbers from 9001 on. The chassisnumbers between 8862 and 9000 were not used. When the numbers reached 8862, all cars were numbered in sequence again. Meanwhile the numbers had reached 9189. So between 9001 and 9189 only LHD are produced. Technical changes 1. The 6750 cc engine. The engine was enlarged in 1970 from 6230 cc to 6750 cc. Amongst others this was caused by the power loss as a result of the American environmental measurements on the engines. This power loss had to be compensated, which was done by enlarging the piston stroke. Up to and including number 9039 only 4-door saloons were produced. The first 2-door (MPW: Mulliner, Park Ward) was the 9040 and the first Long wheelbase was the 9067. 2. Suspension and floor pan. On chassisnumber 9001 several changes were introduced, like to the suspension and floor pan. But also smaller changes like door switches, increased height control sensitivity, and things like that. Different models In this series only 1 car has been converted into a pick-up: the SRX9062. Other details of manufacturing The production of chassisnumber 9001 started in June 1970. Double numbers Some numbers I have met in different appearances. For example SBX1268 also as SBH1268. Most of the double numbers are caused by the wrong notification of the owner. In the list on the site in these cases I mentioned the most probable chassisnumber. The double numbers in this series are: LRX9125 also noticed as DRX9125. SBH9407 also noticed as SRH9407. The American law ordered severe measurements for the engines. This plaque is from the 1970 Silver Shadow SRX8007, the 7th Silver Shadow for the American market with the 6750 cc engine.
