Number of cars in this list: 242    (48%) Beginning and end of series 1. Long wheelbase In 1967 Rolls-Royce already sold a pre-series of 10 Long wheelbase models of the Silver Shadow. The official launch of the Long wheelbase models took place only in 1969 on chassisnumber LRX6599. The first (about) 50 copies were all sold to the USA. The first RHD Long wheelbase was produced only on number LRH7961. The Long wheelbase could be ordered with a division. 2. FSS on the RHD cars From chassisnumber CRH6475 the USA Federal Safety Standards also were applied to RHD convertibles. The LHD cars got these modifications from number 6001, the RHD 2-door saloons from number 6550 and the RHD convertible from number 6475. From number 6792 on the RHD and LHD were mixed again and the 5000-series was ended. In the contrary of the cars in the 5000-series the 6000-series cars got a new dashboard with big pieces of padding, and with side marker lamps at the front and the rear of the wings. Technical changes In this series only less important technical changes occur. Different models In this series three cars have been converted into other models. The SRX6733 and the SRX6915 are modified into pick-ups. And the LRX6972 is changed into a stretched limo. Other details of manufacturing 1. The SRH6839 In May 1969 the SRH6839 was delivered to the first owner. In June 1996 I bought this car and in 2000 it became the car this website is based upon. 2. Convertibles with chassisnumbers of their own In the beginning all coachbuilt cars got a letter "C" in the chassisnumber, whether it was a convertible or a 2-door saloon. That changed on chassisnumber DRX6646. From that number all convertibles got the letter D in the chassisnumber. 3. Model not known Number 6606 is an MPW but I don't know whether it is a 2-door saloon or a convertible. Other models than the Silver Shadow Alongside the Silver Shadow models Rolls-Royce also sold the Phantom VI. The chassisnumbers of the Phantom VI untill 1978 were part of the 4000-series.
