Number of cars in this list: 209   (45%). Beginning and end of series FSS on the RHD cars. From chassisnumber CRH6475 the USA Federal Safety Standards also were applied to RHD convertibles. To the saloon from number 6792, to the 2-door saloon from 6550. From these numbers on the RHD and LHD were mixed again and the 5000-series was ended. Technical changes Noteworthy is the change in steering ratio to 19.3:1 at chassisnumber 6429 and at 6459 for the coachbuilt cars. Different models In this series 2 cars have been converted into a stretched limo: the SRX6132 and the SRX6379; and one has been converted into an Estate: the SRX6119. Other details of manufacturing 1. The production of chassisnumber 6001 started in March 1968. The chassisnumbers 5604 up to and including 6000 were not used; so chassisnumber 6000 doesn't exist. 2. The 6000-series When the American cars were modified to the Federal Safety Standards, they were provided with a separate series of chassisnumbers, starting with 6001. The RHD and non-american LHD cars were numbered from 5001 on. In the contrary of the cars in the 5000-series the 6000-series cars got a new dashboard with big pieces of padding, and with side marker lamps at the front and the rear of the wings. 3. Coachbuilt cars Just like in the beginning of the 5000-series in the beginning of the 6000-series many coachbuilt Silver Shadows (the MPW convertible and MPW 2-door saloon; MPW = Mulliner, Park Ward) were produced. The first of them was the CRX6003. 4. Model not known. Of several MPW's I can't determine whether it is a 2-door saloon or a convertible. In these first years of production it can't be determined by the chassisnumber either. In those cases I have defined the car as a MPW and I have pointed out with a ?? that I don't know the exact model. Other models than the Silver Shadow Alongside the Silver Shadow models Rolls-Royce also sold the Phantom VI. The chassisnumbers of the Phantom VI untill 1978 were part of the 4000-series.
