The chassisnumbers of the Phantom VI untill 1978 were part of the 4000-series. Begin and end of series Modelyear 1972 From modelyear 1972 the cars for the American market got a code of their own in the chassisnumber. The third letter wasn't an X anymore for LHD American cars, but from modelyear 1972 they got an A, for modelyear 1973 a B, etcetera. The first Silver Shadow with an A in the chassisnumber was the SRA12030 (as far as I can determine). The first Long Wheelbase and the first two-door cars already got the letter A earlier, that is on LRA11922 (LWB), CRA11941 (2-door saloon) en DRA11808 (convertible). The American cars had features that were a consequence of the severe USA environment- and safety laws. For instance these cars had a seat safety belt warning lamp where European cars didn't have these lamps. Technical changes From the SRA12428 on Kangol seat belts were mounted on American cars. Further on many small changes became available. Different models In this series no different models occur. Other details of manufacturing The production of chassisnumber 12000 started in November 1971. Double numbers Some numbers I have met in different appearances. For example SBX1268 also as SBH1268. Most of the double numbers are caused by the wrong notification of the owner. In the list on the site in these cases I mentioned the most probable chassisnumber. The double numbers in this series are: DRX12126 also noticed as DRA12126 SRX12220 also noticed as SRH12220 LRA12303 also noticed as SRX12303 DRH12344 also noticed as DRA12344 LRH12352 also noticed as DRA12352 DRH12403 also noticed as DRA12403 Many owners let modify their car by coachbuilders. Sometimes they ordered a Landaulette, like the owner of this car, the LRH12240. The car is painted Old English White and has a Burgundy interior.
